In January 2014 two Yr6 pupils listened to a piece of music from a local band and were inspired to create an imaginative project based around it.
“It sounds like a video game” one of them suggested.
“Yeah, like a Mario or something” the other added.
"We could make a video of someone making a computer game, but then they imagine they're in it, and we see them playing inside it”.
...and I had the pleasure of watching two pupils work out to do just that during break times and lunch times over three weeks in January.
They "recruited" a coder, an artist, an actor, sorted props, then sought and received permission from a local band to use their music, and then set about to create a wonderful video (and as a side project a game linked to it).
Creativity isn't dead. It's just on life support, being cared for by innovative kids, in their own time.
