Epic Winter

One cold and windy night in an old town called Epic Citadel a chef was selling his food for the winter. He owned the best shop in town and his name was Donnovan. Donnovan loved his shop so when he heard the King was coming to test his food he went wild. If the king liked his food he would make him the royal chef but if not he would close down his shop for ever.

Winter

Meanwhile another salesman heard the news, Donnovan’s rival to be exact, his name was Jonathan. Jonathan worked every bit as hard as his rival but never managed to get to the same level as Donnovan. Now was his chance to prove he was better. When he heard the news he went straight to the King and said, "Your majesty the man you chose doesn't deserve the honour of cooking for you."

 "Very well we shall have a contest tomorrow four pm if you don't turn up then you lose," replied the King. The next day Jonathan rushed down to the spot where the King had told him to go and the competition began. He quickly started to bake the King’s favourite dish.

In about thirty minutes it was ready and Jonathan handed it to the King. Suddenly he remembered he had forgotten to put in the main ingredient and the king was lifting it to his mouth. He swallowed it down.

"Perfect, how did you know I don't like chilli in it?" asked a satisfied King.

"It's all in here," Jonathan said tapping his head.

"I think it is an easy win for you. Off to the castle we go" replied the King.

Off they went… a successful chef and a King.

Winter in Epic Citadel

A Winter Tale, from Laura;

It was Christmas time in Epic Citadel. Every one was happy, playing in the snow. There was a loud and strong wind blowing. Because it was so cold the lake that the people in the city got their water from was frozen but it was very thin ice.

Winter2

A baker named George noticed that lots of children were skating on the ice so he went over and said to the children “You don’t know whether the ice that you are skating on is thin ice or thick ice so I wouldn’t recommend skating on it because you might fall through.”

A boy called Charlie said back to him “We don’t care whether it is thin ice or thick ice and we don’t think we will fall through.”

So they carried on skating and suddenly there was a shout of fear and Charlie fell through the ice into the freezing water. All the children ran off the ice and waited to see if he was still alive, frozen or coming back to the surface. They couldn’t see anything because the water was so cold and it had gone blurry.

George rushed over to see what had happened and he noticed a hand sticking up out of the hole. All the children said that he should go in and rescue him and George thought that this was a bad idea and said to the children “Please can you go and see if there is any rope or a very large stick lying around” and all the children rushed off to try and find something to rescue the boy.

About half a minute later all the boys rushed back with a long rope. George took the rope off the children and threw it onto the cracking ice towards the hand and shouted to Charlie “Grab hold of this rope and we will pull you out of the water.” So the hand grabbed the rope next to him with strong grip and everybody pulled him to safety. All the children especially Charlie thanked George for thinking of the idea to get Charlie out of the frozen water and the promised not to go on the ice in the winter again.

A reward was given to George two days after the rescue and he got 10 silver coins to spend on anything he desired.
