The Post Office for Bectan Sands is on the right hand side of Main Street as you travel towards the beach. It is a small, two storey building of large reddish stone blocks that over time have faded, creating a patterned block effect. The top of the building has a steep roof, that is covered by grey slate sheets glistening in the sun.
A large red framed window is filled with items on sale - stamps, envelopes, cards and other stationery items.
Next to the window is a single red door giving access to the Post Office. Yellow letters reading 'Post Office' hang across the top of the window on a red sign.
On the pavement outside the Post Office is the village postbox. This stands in front of the footpath that leads along the side of the Post Office and then through the fields on its way towards the town.
Inside the Post Office it is dimly lit with only two fluorescent lights covering the shop. A counter, with a glass screen at the front of it, stands at the back of the room. Along the right hand side of the room are shelves full of leaflets and posters advertising postal services. Two pens sit on the dark shelf, connected to the shelf by a length of string.
On the left hand shop wall there is a display of cards for various celebrations - birthdays, weddings, new babies and more.
Behind the counter is where Bill Parva stands. Bill is the village postmaster, and has been for the past fourteen years. He stands six feet tall, and looks like a gentle giant.
His face is calm, although it looks rough and weathered from living near to the sea for many years. His short brown hair is beginning to grey at the edges.
Recently Bill was told to wear spectacles, and his gold framed glasses sit awkwardly on his nose, and he constantly has to push them back up to prevent them sliding.
While at work Bill wears smart casual clothes, and normally wears his blue cardigan to keep warm.
At the rear of the counter is a door leading to Bills lounge, kitchen and staircase.
Rex, Bills guard dog, likes to lie on the floor of the lounge looking into the shop while Bill works.
In the lounge is a large window that looks out onto the fields behind Bectan Sands.
Upstairs is a bathroom, and a bedroom where Bill and his wife, June, sleep.
