An Introduction

2DIY is a powerful piece of software from a company called 2Simple, and designed for use in schools that allows pupils to create their own activities and games. In its most simple form, children can simply click, drag and insert (or draw) elements of an activity on screen and then save their work as a flash (.swf) file that can be inserted, or embedded, onto a webpage, blog post, wiki article, multimedia scrapbook page or kept locally on a machine, and played via an Internet browser window.

What is different about 2DIY though is the facility to alter the code - the ActionScript - of some of the key elements of activities, that can result in more advanced features being incorporated into activities.

This archive is designed to show some of those scripts - those used for animations / collisions and start button scripts - as well as showing working examples of the script in action. There is also an Actionscript Index that describes many of the functions of the scripts.

The archive also showcases some of the excellent uses of 2DIY that have been created by schools / pupils, and these can be discussed in the feedback area.

We have linked to the official 2DIY videos - produced by 2Simple and placed onto their official YouTube channel - for you to watch in the Help and Videos area. The Help and Videos area also lists some handy tips to help develop your activities your further.

Finally, you can search throughout the site using the search option bottom right of each screen.
