Web 2.0 + interest = enthusiasm

For the past few weeks my class have been totally engrossed in a project called "Blog the World Cup" (see the earlier post about it here). For this project we have been trying to find out as much as we could about Italy - the country, people, places and football team.

Vuvuzela enhanced websites

Thanks to @timrylands for pointing out this excellent World Cup web tool. If you're enjoying the World Cup, and the sound of those Vuvuzelas is music to your ears, then first of all "Are you mad?", but secondly you can now enhance your website to embrace the unique sound they make.

Retweet; oh what an evening

This evening I witnessed at first hand the power and speed of Twitter through it's RT (retweet) function. It all came about during the World Cup match between England and the United States. The match was being shown on ITV, and shortly after kick off England scored.

Embedded extras

Have you seen the school website recently? The recent posts have shown a subtle difference in their content. There is a post about a trip a class featuring an animoto slideshow. There is another post featuring video content, and posts with audio too. All these posts could have linked to the slideshow, the video and the audio but a revolution has begun in school...

Exploring the code

I've been fiddling with the coding within the advanced templates on the school website again, and I've found out that I can add images to some areas of the website I didn't think I could.

Twitter with the young 'uns

Twitter has been around for a while now, and I've been using it within school for around 18 months. I've previously set up a school Twitter account (@porchester) that is used to tweet the latest articles that appear on the school website - as well as the occasional other piece of news that needs to passed on quickly (think back to the wintry weather at the start of the year).

Updates a plenty

One of the features I like about the iPhone is the way it checks whether any of the apps installed on a phone have been updated with newer, or working, versions. This week has seen a steady flow of updates available for the apps on my iPhone.
