As I've previously said we've launched an iPhone App for the school website. Brilliant idea - but it seems to have a few bugs at the moment. Several people are reporting that it loads, then quits before it can be used. I've found the same issue too.

App 'y Daze

Woah! What a crazy 24 hours this past day has been. And all because Apple have approved and published an app I had been quietly working on for the school.

Domain Mapping Time

Oh the joy! It's the fun of Domain Mapping once again. Why is this such a time consuming process? And why when I domain map to a blog does the formatting of the site always go wibbly wobbly for the first few hours of the changeover? Let's see how it goes today...

Update: It's all done, without any hassle. It was a smooth transition (helped immensely by the fact that 1and1.co.uk now give access to change CNAME details). So, all done, website domain mapped and up and running.

Passing the info on

I had a thought today whilst sat at home due to the school being closed as a result of the bad weather. I was thinking about the first school website I set up back in 1997, and how things have changed up to the present day.

Etherpad opens up

As promised by the developers of Etherpad, the source code for it has been made open. You can view the source code here, as well as read known issues and comments from others who have already created their own versions of etherpad.

Adventures in Skype

On Monday evening, we tried out a new idea for our staff meeting at school. We had arranged for Mike Fleetham - of thinkingclassroom.co.uk - to train us in some of his thinking skills and criticial skills techniques. 

Etherpad returns, kind of

Well, not long after I had written and posted my thoughts on Google's killing of Etherpad, than a tweet from @teachernz appeared with a link to a new post on the Etherpad blog. And it was a good message for a change.

Fading into the Ether(pad)

I was saddened to read yesterday that Etherpad will soon be no more. Etherpad is, for those who don't already know, a fantastic realtime collaboration tool that works great in a classroom situation.

It's Advent Season

So I've had this idea related to the time of the year, and linked it to the great help that Twitter provides me whenever I need to find the answer to a question quickly.
