The temperature has dropped drastically. The snow is falling and settling. Winter has well and truly arrived in the UK this week. And it's just in time too. We're on the verge of moving into December, and that means just one thing...
It's time to dust down, polish and re-hang the decorations ready for Advent. It also means it's time to get the Porchester Online Advent up and running again on the school website. Returning for its fourth year, we've got 25 posts all queued and ready to appear throughout the run up to Christmas.
Some posts will provide you with information about Christmas, some posts will teach you how to make Christmas items, and some posts will let you play Christmas themed games. We've scheduled each post to appear towards the end of the school day (3pm Mon - Fri), and at 9am for the weekend.
As well as the Online Advent, I've also decided to set up a small Winter themed competition for all classes using our PurpleMash online service.
2Simple recent launched a new feature within PurpleMash - the 'gallery' where each Year group has it's own area to showcase work, and I've decided to use this for pupils to showcase their best 2Paint Winter creations. I began today with a Yr5/6 class, and they loved the idea. Some completed a piece of digital artwork within the lesson, and their creations are already in both the Yr5 and Yr6 gallery areas.
