It has been. It's been one of those days that teachers have - occasionally - where you leave school, and you can say to yourself "That's why I became a teacher".
I've been sat in front of the computer cursing, typing, cursing, fuming, scratching my head, cursing, tutting and generally getting annoyed over the past 24hours. Why? Because I'm trying to make Google Apps better -and safer - for the children to use in school.
Back in June 2009 I posted an article that would be the start of a fascinating journey that myself and the school would embark upon. It was an article about the wonders of the VLE / MLE that all schools were being told to set up.
I've just been playing with the '2Investigate' program within 2Simples PurpleMash creative online learning package that we use in school, and in particular the new 'collaborative' feature of 2Investigate.
The temperature has dropped drastically. The snow is falling and settling. Winter has well and truly arrived in the UK this week. And it's just in time too. We're on the verge of moving into December, and that means just one thing...
Earlier in the week I posted how our pupils access the online services we use in school. I mentioned Google Edu Apps, Typepad and PurpleMash in particular, and how we had set up accounts so that the pupils only needed to remember one unique username and password.
As I've mentioned before, when the Local Authority informed us of its official Learning Platform solution, and invited us on our training days for it, both the HT and myself decided it wasn't for us. I'm not going to go into the reasons why again here, I've mentioned it before in other posts on this site, but I will say again that it left us looking for our own bespoke solution.
The last few days have driven me slowly mad! As I mentioned in the last post, I've changed the navigation on the website, removed all the random navigation, and put in a single, central navigation bar.
It's the first week of the school holidays, and I am busy working towards September. I am thinking about our ICT lessons throughout the school as I am in the fortunate position that I will have one lesson with every class each week.
