A new School. German Style.

I've recently returned from a short break in Germany staying with my wife's family, during which I had chance to see a special school that will open in September, replacing an older building. To say I was impressed is an understatement - the thought that has gone into the building is incredible...

Technology Day

Today we tried something new at school - we held a 'Technology Day' (although, being from 1pm until hometime, it was actually a half day!). This event comprised of three separate sessions that we invited parents / carers to.

Making a Silent Movie

During this half term, I've been busy working with our three lower school classes on a rather special project in their ICT lessons. It all began back in April when I blogged about an app I discovered in the app store that would allow a user to create an aged movie.

Displaying the Game

I recently wrote several posts about using Aurasma in the primary classroom - read post 1, post 2 and post 3 - and how it could enhance a display by allowing video to be incorporated into it. I even demoed a really poor quality video showing how I thought it would work.

More Augmentation

At the moment I'm working with the Upper School classes in school on a short post - SATs project to create a 2DIY based platform style game. I want to showcase the games once completed, and will - of course - place them on the school website, but I always wonder how to show them in school.

On Sunday afternoon I was sent a tweet by @dughall asking me if I had seen, or was aware of 'Aurasma'. I wasn't. I'd never heard of it, but being the curious type I took a look. I'm glad I did because what I saw made my jaw drop to the floor.

Comic Life - a very useful image tip

Recently I posted an article about how we used Comic Life on the laptops for creative work in which I explained how we used Powerpoint to combine background images and clipart characters into a single image, as Comic Life would allow us to layer images in a frame. It's been one of those days today

It has been. It's been one of those days that teachers have - occasionally - where you leave school, and you can say to yourself "That's why I became a teacher".
