So I've had this idea related to the time of the year, and linked it to the great help that Twitter provides me whenever I need to find the answer to a question quickly.
Every year within school I queue up 25 Christmas related posts for the website, and called them "The Online Advent". This year those posts will also appear as Tweets for the school Twitter account (@porchester_jun) automatically everytime an Online Advent post is released.
I'm also aware now that there are many, many great people out there using Twitter, and some amazing primary teaching peeps who have so much knowledge and advice that they are willing to share with others quickly whenever asked.
That got me thinking that there must be a way to queue up some Tweets directly to create advent postings - and it was then I remembered what @chrisleach78 had said about HootSuite (when he was talking about his brilliant Gunpowder Plot Twitter topic) allowing you to schedule tweets to appear at a particular time. Knowing this, I have created a HootSuite account, and also created 24 special advent tweets that all begin with the same simple phrase;
#primaryteachersadvent Recommended for [the date] is [their twitter username]
Each day from December 1st through to the 24th I'll mention a different person on Twitter who (IMO) I think should be followed by anyone working in the primary classroom (there'll be some disagreements with who I've chosen, questions asked why some names are not mentioned at all, but I've focussed on those that are relevant to the primary age classroom). Just follow @porchester to see the daily recommendation :o)
As you can see from the example above, each tweet will have the hashtag #primaryteachersadvent within it, making them all easy to find if you go searching for them.
Call it my Christmas Gift to everyone. My Christmas Advent of must-follow primary related people.
Merry Christmas!
