Today has been a much more calm, less stressful day in the world of create-your-own-VLEs. Things seems to be clicking into place.
With most children now using either their learning spaces, GDocs, or both most of the login issues seem to have been resolved. There are few problems still with whole classes trying to log into services causing bandwith issues, but this (I am led to believe) is also an issue in other schools. It would seem that no-one has a fat enough pipe to successfully achieve what they are wanting to.
It was good today to see one member of staff preparing a lesson for next week, and going through the process of making their own GDoc and putting it into a learning space - as they said to me "I'd like to know what it is I'm telling them to do". Perfect response! The same teacher was also later on showing another teacher what to do, so I consider that progress
I also had a child come to me during the day to show me what they had just finished in their lessons; work using GDocs, then published it, and pasted a hyperlink to it in their own learning spaces. A very small step -- but when you start with something so different and new as we are, the first, small steps are the biggest ones to take.
It was also nice to pass by classes today and see that the IWBs within them were being used. One class had Flash based activities up and ready for a maths lesson, another had the visulaliser running ready to demonstrate a process to them.
It would seem that, after the hectic and stressful start to the term, maybe my ICT vision is beginning to fall into place.
