I've been looking for an online timeline creator, that could be used to show some of the key events that have occured over the past 100 years both in and out of the school (seeing as this year we celebrate 100 years of education in the same building).
I tried dipity to begin with - but with all the adverts there, didn't think it would be suitable if we were to use it with children. However, I came across TimeGlider. It's very similar to dipity, but seems totally advert free. I've started to create a timeline of the school history - see below in the embed - that I hope to keep adding to as I uncover more and more information (I am planning a trip to the County Archives to look through the old log books fairly soon).
PS, Click the spanner and then "full screen" to see this working best.
I can see this having lots of uses within the classroom for all sorts of topics. Off now to read about groups users, and whether it lets you add video and sound.
OK, so an update to add. There "plus" feature will allow many editors of a timeline. It's in plus at the moment, but I just applied for it, and was instantly upgraded to it (cracking service!) Now I can either invite users via email, or set up usernames / passwords to give out to children who could do some research. Simplicity makes a service a pleasure to use!
