Hurrah - my quest has been completed! I've reached the end of the "set up". I've managed to get all pupils within school set up with their learning spaces, set up their categories and posting access privaliges.
It's nice to know that it's all been finished before term starts - I really didn't want to be setting up pupil profiles in the evening once term had started (I plan to mark as much as possible at school and then recharge my batteries in the evening so that I don't wear myself out and fall ill again).
As the whole school is now ready to go, I suppose it's time to work out how to introduce the new facilities to everyone. I can set my own class going with it easily, and if I negotiate a one-off class swap with the other lower school classes then they can be shown too.
Upper school is going to be more of a problem. If I can't get to visit each class and demonstrate to them, it will have to be a helpsheet (but then if there are any issues with pupils profiles I won't be able to sort them out there and then).
And then of course there is making sure that the staff (1) understand WHAT we are doing and WHY, and (2) ensuring they know HOW to use the learning spaces / wiki within their lessons. This half term could be interesting as I try to get our self built VLE up and running. I'll be posting my thoughts here on a regular basis as I cope with the disasters, and how I (hopefully) overcome them.
